Wheelchair fencer Alison Yu has won Hong Kong, China's first medal at the Asian Para Games in Nagoya. She claimed a bronze medal after losing her semi-final bout on Monday against China’s Zou Xufeng in the women’s foil individual Category A. The event did not feature a third-place play-off. Yu, 42, started strongly and held a slight early edge, but Zou soon fought back to take an 8-5 lead after the first period. While Yu managed to narrow the deficit to two points later, Zou pulled away in the closing stage to seal a 15-9 victory. The SAR veteran is making her fifth Asian Para Games appearance, having won 15 medals across previous Games, including five golds. Her teammate Lam Ka-man, meanwhile, fell 15-3 to China’s Chen Yuandong in the quarter-finals. The pair are set to return to action in the women’s foil team event on Tuesday. Edited by Edmond Fong
