Lighthouse Treatment Center Hosts a Medieval Thanksgiving for its Alumni

December 03, 2019 - /PressAdvantage/ - Anaheim, California – As part of its alumni program, the Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol recovery facility in Anaheim, California, hosted an early Thanksgiving dinner at the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament on November 23, 2019.

The 4-course dinner is accompanied by a medieval show at the Buena Park Castle complete with a two-hour jousting tournament, six competing knights, real weapons, stunning horses, and a live fight at the royal falcon.

Jocel Bibera, alumni relations coordinator of the Lighthouse shared that it was a great alternative to a typical Thanksgiving feast. Not only was the food delicious, but it also showed their alumni that there are sober activities that can be fun and entertaining.

“Our alumni enjoyed the Medieval Times dinner and show for our early Thanksgiving celebration. It provided an entertaining experience for everyone who attended,” Bibera said.

The Medieval Times dinner is only one of the ongoing activities hosted by the Lighthouse for its alumni members. Earlier in the month, some Lighthouse alumni also went to a pirate-themed dinner theater.

John F., one of the Lighthouse alumni said that he always looks forward to alumni events as a way to build new friendships. “Alumni events are the highlight of my week and this event did not disappoint. We had community bonding from being on the same knight’s team and cheering together! It was awesome sober fun.”

Close call in majors can lead to some major recovery time

Jul 2, 2020

KAPALUA, Hawaii — J.B. Holmes played only two rounds in four months leading into the new year. He expected some rust at Kapalua, and it showed when he managed only two birdies in his opening round of 78. He can recover from that, especially in a 34-man field with no cut in the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Far more difficult was getting over his shot to win a major. For two days at Royal Portrush, Holmes played some of his best golf and shared the 36-hole lead. Even after Shane Lowry began to pull away with a 63 in the...

GOLD COAST, Australia — Adam Scott birdied two of his final three holes to take a one-stroke lead after three rounds of the Australian PGA championship on Saturday. Scott had a 54-hole total of 10-under 206 after a 3-under 69 at Royal Pines. "I made a good move at it (on the 18th) and it all worked out — you'd hope for that tomorrow to happen but you just never know," Scott said. "This golf course can bite you so it's important you execute your shots well when you're down in the valleys of sin around these greens." Former U.S....

INZAI CITY, Japan — Tiger Woods shot a second straight 6-under 64 on Saturday to take a two-stroke lead after the second round of the rain-hit Zozo Championship. Teeing off in front of empty stands, Woods picked up where he left off after a 64 in Thursday's opening round with a birdie on the first hole, one of seven on the day that gave him a 36-hole total of 12-under 128, two shots ahead of Gary Woodland. Woods took the lead on the par-4 17 when his approach shot landed a foot from the hole and he made the easy...

Jul 2, 2020

RICHMOND, Va. — Heavy rain forecast to last throughout the day forced the postponement of the third round of the PGA Tour Champions event on Sunday. The Dominion Energy Charity Classic, the first of three tournaments in the tour's Champions' Charles Schwab Cup playoffs, will resume on the Country Club of Virginia's James River Course at 8 a.m. Monday. Scott Parel and Tommy Tolles share the lead at 12 under par, with Colin Montgomerie one shot back. Na shoots 61 and takes lead in Las Vegas

Jul 2, 2020

LAS VEGAS — Kevin Na matched his career-low Saturday with a 10-under 61 on a day of low scoring in Las Vegas to build a two-shot lead over Patrick Cantlay in the Shiners Hospitals for Children Open. Na was pumping his fist after every putt down the stretch at the TPC Summerlin, which yielded six scores of 63 or better. Na, who lives in Las Vegas, set the tournament's 54-hole record at 22-under 191. Cantlay was staying with him until he failed to get up-and-down on the reachable par-4 15th and made bogey from the bunker on the par-3 17th....
